A No-vote in the Voice referendum will destroy Dutton's chance of winning the next election

The cynicism and transparency of Peter Dutton’s “details” ploy to scupper an Indigenous Voice to parliament in no way diminishes its effectiveness. We all know what he is doing—creating enough doubt in the minds of low-information voters to scare them off voting Yes at a referendum—but knowing that doesn’t help.
It certainly doesn’t change anything.
We often get it into our heads that exposing the hypocrisy and tactics of the right and making that information available to voters is key to defeating them but it isn’t, not even close.
Just telling people “there is plenty of information available” doesn’t help either, though there is plenty of information available.
There is a difference between throwing “facts” at people and convincing them to support you. Political facts can’t exist separately from the arguments and rhetoric that support (create) them, and to recognise that is not to give yourself over to relativism or post-truth dogma, but to understand a deeper truth.
